1.
Can I expect high accuracy ?
Yes, we have multiple levels of review for each transcription. After the primary transcription is done, it is proofread by a senior MT. We don’t stop there; we then have a quality assurance system with highly skilled people including medical professionals to assure the most accurate transcription possible. In addition, our staff are given continual on-the-job training and feedback to improve their MT skills.
2.
Will the same Medical Transcriptionist do my work ?
Yes, in general a single MT and a single proofer will do all of each client’s transcription for many years. This improves accuracy and allows for very specific personalization of style and content. For STAT work and transcription during holiday times, this could vary slightly.
3.
Who does the quality reviews ?
Most quality assurance reviews are done by physicians or experienced nurses.
4.
How is accuracy determined ?
The proofreader does a 100% review of the transcription from the audio file, corrects any errors, and fills in as many of the blanks as possible. The Quality Assurance person reviews at least 10% of the dictation and further fills in all blanks and queries that the proofreader may have had, the result being nearly 100% accuracy. We also will correct grammar and try to improve sentences that were dictated in a cumbersome manner.
5.
What factors can limit the ability to deliver error-free reports ?
Poor dictation from slurred speech, poorly articulated phrases, speaking too rapidly especially when using very technical language, background noise, and the use of poor dictation equipment all add to the difficulty of getting it right.
